Healing Hearts is a wonderful compilation of three Amish romances that is sure to warm your heart
THis is my first book about the Amish. I set out this year to mix up my reading and to read alot of new things and I think that even though I fell short of my reading goal that I managed to do just that. Amish fiction is one of the new things that I tried this year.
These three books are great. The first is about a husbank and wife who must learn to love each other again after the husband has left with no explanation. The story deals with the deifficulties involved in the choice to forgive and highlights the way that one members choices can weigh heaving on the whole family.
The second is about Leah an unconvetional girl and the courtship between herself and Aaron a boy in the community which is helped by Aaron's aunt another unconventional girl. This is a sweet story that deals with young love its difficutlites and pit falls and most of all its beauty and simplicity.
The third deals with the story of Lydia a widow who must confront her heart and decide whether she is able to forgive the man who left her all those years ago. This story is particularly well written and the reader is able to feel Lydia's pain and her confusion. Even at the end when the truth is revealed - her agony at having all of the wated years and her mixed feelings toward her husband who had known all along.
I really loved all of these stories. I plan to read more Amish fiction in 2012.
